The mission for Alaska Kids for Kids
is to encourage kids to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children across Alaska on every day of the year.
The goal for Alaska
Kids for Kids is to find at least 365 kids who are willing to devote some part of their birthday celebration each year to benefit other children in Alaska.
Alaska Kids for Kids is an Alaska-based, youth-led,
non-profit corporation that contributes 100% of what it earns to support Alaska-based youth
Alaska Kids for Kids was started in 2011 by Sarah
Mixsell on her 9th birthday when she decided to dedicate her birthday to serving other children in Alaska. She and her friends donated gifts and "birthday parties in a bag" to AWAIC (Abused Women's Aid
in Crisis), a residential center in Anchorage that provides shelter for abused women and their
children so that children staying there could select a new gift from the birthday closet and have a party. For more information on AWAIC, please visit visit the link below.
In 2012, Sarah and her friends made earring and necklace sets offered for a suggested donation of $7.00. She has a goal to reach a $500 donation amount. 100% of these proceeds will be donated to the Child Life Program at the Alaska Children's Hospital at Providence in Anchorage. This program provides services to reduce trauma and stress for children and their families interfacing with the hospital. For more information on their program, please visit the link below.
Each year on her birthday, Sarah and her friends come up
with a new idea for a project that will help Alaska kids and then spend that day
making a difference.
Alaska Kids for Kids is open to kids of all ages! Contact us to sign up for your birthday.
Thanks for being a great kid and
wanting to make a postive difference!
