The mission for Alaska Kids for Kids is to encourage kids to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children across Alaska on every day of the year.

Alaska Kids for Kids' goal is to inspire kids to help other kids across Alaska.  We hope to encourage at least 365 kids who are willing to devote some part of their birthday celebration or dedicate another day each year to benefit other children in Alaska.

Alaska Kids for Kids  is an Alaska-based,  youth-led,  non-profit corporation that contributes 100% of what it earns to support Alaska-based youth services.

Alaska Kids for Kids was started in 2011 by Sarah Mixsell on her 9th birthday when she decided to dedicate her birthday to serving other children in Alaska.  She and her friends donated gifts and "birthday parties in a bag" to AWAIC (Abused Women's Aid in Crisis), a residential center in Anchorage that provides shelter for abused women and their children so that children staying there could select a new gift from the birthday closet and have a party.  This small gesture inspired founding Alaska Kids for Kids with the mission to continue to serve Alaska's youth.

Since 2011 Alaska Kids for Kids has raised over $20,000 in funds and donations in service to Alaska's youth.  Some of the organizations helped include:  AWAIC,  Children's Hospital at Providence, Covenant House/Passage House, Foster Kids of Alaska, Clare House (Catholic Social Services), Children's Lunch Box (Bean's Cafe), Sparc (a Program of Arc of Anchorage), Girl Scouts of Alaska,  Alaska Association of Figure Skaters and many other youth groups.
